There have been numerous reports of vehicle prowls in the southeast area of Lacey, which occur in the late night to early morning hours. Some of the streets include Bailey, Inlay, Stone, and Prism. Often, owners have left valuables in plain sight or have left the vehicles unlocked.
Owners are encouraged not to leave any valuables inside a vehicle and to always lock the doors and close the windows.
Since the first of January, there have been over 150 vehicle prowls reported in the City of Lacey. In most cases, the victim reported either a car window was smashed or the car had been left unlocked. In many instances, a purse or GPS unit was easily viewed inside the vehicle.
The Lacey Police Department wants the public to be aware of the risk when leaving property visible inside a vehicle. Please do not leave any valuables or belongings inside a vehicle that is parked outside.
