On March 13th at about 11:30 p.m., a drive by shooting occurred in the 4700 block of 23rd Avenue SE in Lacey.

A small dark colored vehicle was seen driving by a residence and appeared to fire shots into the vehicle parked in the driveway. A side window was shattered and bullet holes noted in the side of the vehicle. Two bullets also entered a neighbor’s house.

November 18, 2009

On Monday, November 16th at 2:43 a.m., Olympia Police officers were dispatched to multiple reports of gunshots being fired in the area of the 1700 block of Capitol Way.  Arriving police units discovered a body lying in the southbound lane of Capitol Way.  The victim in this case has been identified as 40-year-old Shawn Peterson of Tumwater, who died as a result of his wounds.  A witness observed a dark colored compact vehicle fleeing the scene shortly after the shooting.

October 28, 2009

On Thursday, October 22nd, just after 7:00 p.m., shots were heard in the area of the 8600 block of Skokomish Way NE.

On investigation, bullet holes were found in a vehicle and in a residence, with a total of five .40 caliber shell casings, two bullets and bullets fragments located.  Two people were inside the residence at the time, but were not injured.

The incident is believed to be gang-related.

July 15, 2009

On July 2nd at approximately 10:45 p.m. a black male exited the passenger side of a black Mustang at the side of Home Depot located at Marvin Road and Quinault Dr in Lacey. The suspect ran toward an employee aiming a handgun. The employee fled into the store and the suspect fired one round from a .380 handgun through the open doors. The suspect then fled to the Mustang which was waiting in the Costco parking lot.

The suspect wore a mask, had short hair, dark hooded sweatshirt, and khaki cargo pants. The vehicle was a 2005 or newer Ford Mustang, tinted windows, no front license plate, white strip at the bottom of rocker panel with the name “Mustang.”

June 11, 2008

On Friday night, June 6th, just after 10:00 p.m., residents from several homes in the 1200 block of Stillwell Street NE reported hearing five to seven gunshots.  Witnesses reported seeing a red compact vehicle speeding away southbound on Stillwell Street.

Deputies found that the shots damaged the front door and garage of one home.
