Two large pieces of art were stolen from an art gallery in downtown Olympia during Friday night or early Saturday, January 21st.

One piece was 50-inches in diameter titled “Tribute to a Concussed Skier”. The other was 56-inches by 40-inches titled “Horizons II”.

The burglars entered the gallery by breaking out a skylight and then rappelling down.

On November 22nd, a residence in the 4700 block of 26th Avenue SE was burglarized. The homeowner had recently passed away, and when family arrived at the residence, they found it had been ransacked.

Stolen in the burglary was a safe containing numerous guns, several brand new cameras, a large generator, a flat screen TV, and antique items. Both sheds in the back yard were also ransacked.

On Sunday, December 11th, employees of Cutters Point Coffee on Lacey Boulevard in Lacey discovered that the business had been burglarized. The suspect forced entry into a vacant business and then broke holes in the walls of three neighboring businesses to gain access. The businesses were then ransacked.

On November 27th at approximately 6:30 p.m., a burglary occurred in the 6300 block of Martin Way East. The suspect disabled a security camera before breaking into a storage container and stealing numerous tools and large tool chest. The suspect then removed keys and stole a company truck described as a white Ford F2S with the words Sunrise Landscaping on the side.

On November 15th a burglary occurred in the 5500 block of 15th Avenue NE in Lacey. The residence and garage were both ransacked and numerous items stolen. One vehicle was missing from the garage, a 1974 blue Pontiac Firebird limited edition.

Property stolen includes a Colt .22 pistol, Acer laptop, jewelry, numerous tools, and automotive equipment.

It is believed the suspect drove a truck to the back yard of the home to load the stolen property.

Between the 11th and 13th of November, a Thurston County home was burglarized. Stolen from the home was a law enforcement duty belt, body armor, and an M&P .40 caliber handgun. Also stolen was a gold watch, an iPod Touch, and three deactivated cell phones.

During the early morning hours of Tuesday, September 27th, the Kluh Jewelry store located in the 400 block of Cooper Point Road was burglarized.

The suspect stole pearl, garnet, topaz, amethyst and aquamarine rings, earrings, and pendants. Also stolen was a small bag of scrap gold.

On August 23, 2011, a Sheriff’s Office storage facility in the Mottman industrial park was burglarized. Taken during the theft was an orange Poseidon air compressor used to fill SCUBA tanks for a rescue team. Video surveillance captured 3 suspects in the building, but the photos have not yet provided valid identification.

The Washington State liquor stores located at 720 Sleater Kinney Road SE and 4660 Whitman Lane SE have been targeted by burglars several times over the summer.

Young male suspects are seen damaging the property and breaking bottles, before stealing bottles of liquor in backpacks. In one instance, a small dark Honda type vehicle was seen.

The loss to the State totals thousands of dollars.

On August 12th, a 45 year old man was brutally beaten in the Skookumchuck area south of Tenino. A 25 year-old Army Ranger has been arrested for Kidnapping, Burglary and Assault in that case, but the second suspect has not yet been identified. The Sheriff’s Office needs your help identifying the co-conspirator.

Between July 23rd and July 31st, ten drain grates sized 18 by 24 inches were stolen in the Thurston County area. The metal grates were taken from several streets near the Ridgeview Development.

The loss to the County is estimated at $2,500. These thefts cause a safety issue for the public and those traveling in that area.

Tips Sought in Thefts of Catch Basin Covers

OLYMPIA – The public is being asked to help Thurston County Sheriff’s Officers catch those responsible for the theft of metal covers from roadway catch basins.

Thurston County Public Works officials say sometime between July 23rd and July 31st, unknown parties stole ten 18 to 24 inch drain grates. The metal grates were taken from several streets in or near the Ridgeview Development in Southeast Thurston County:

Haven Crest Court
Valley View Drive
Ridgeview Loop
Ridgeview Drive
Marbrock Loop
Marbrock Court
Calistoga Court
Regency Loop
Steilacoom Road

Thurston County Sheriff John Snaza says this crime goes beyond the value of the stolen grates. “This is a theft from the citizens of the county. Not only do we have to replace the grates themselves, but it is a theft of the time of the public employees who have to order new grates, track the project and make sure they are replaced in a timely fashion. That’s why we are asking folks who may have information on this crime to contact us.” The total cost of the theft is estimated at $2,500.

The situation could also be a safety issue for the public and those traveling in the area are urged to use caution until replacement grates can be installed.
