On July 15th at about 3:15 p.m., Olympia Police were dispatched to a report of an auto theft which turned out to be a carjacking. The victim reported that he had been in his green full size Chevrolet Blazer stopped at a red traffic signal on Phoenix Street waiting to proceed north through the intersection at Martin Way. Suddenly he was approached by a white male, about 5’06” tall, 190 pounds, wearing blue jeans and a grey t-shirt. The male opened the victim’s driver’s door, assaulted him, and pulled him from the vehicle. The suspect then fled the scene in the stolen vehicle.

The victim sustained serious injuries during the assault. Investigation revealed that the suspect took the stolen vehicle to the parking lot of a nearby business where he removed several tool boxes from it as well as the victim’s wallet which remained in the vehicle at the time of the robbery.

July 22, 2009

On July 9th, a scam artist approached a man in his driveway on Mercedes Drive in Lacey asking for help. The suspect said he had just arrived from Sri Lanka. He said he had inherited money and showed the victim a letter from an attorney in Tacoma. The suspect said he could not take all the money back to his country, but had to give some of it away. He told the victim that he had to prove he could be trusted by giving him cash and his Rolex watch until the suspect returned from the bank. The victim gave the suspect a large sum of cash and the suspect and his accomplice disappeared.

The victim believes he had been followed from the Home Depot on Marvin to his home. The suspect is a black male in his 30’s, 5-10 and 300 lbs, and his friend was a black male, 5-10, 180, in his 30’s.

July 15, 2009

On July 2nd at approximately 10:45 p.m. a black male exited the passenger side of a black Mustang at the side of Home Depot located at Marvin Road and Quinault Dr in Lacey. The suspect ran toward an employee aiming a handgun. The employee fled into the store and the suspect fired one round from a .380 handgun through the open doors. The suspect then fled to the Mustang which was waiting in the Costco parking lot.

The suspect wore a mask, had short hair, dark hooded sweatshirt, and khaki cargo pants. The vehicle was a 2005 or newer Ford Mustang, tinted windows, no front license plate, white strip at the bottom of rocker panel with the name “Mustang.”

July 8, 2009

On Monday morning, July 6th, just after 6:00 a.m., two suspects entered the Carl’s Jr. restaurant in the 3800 block of Pacific Avenue. One suspect displayed a handgun to employees while the other robbed the business.

One suspect is an African American male, 6-1, medium build. The second is a white male, approximately 5-7 with larger build. Both suspects wore dark clothing, with long sleeves, gloves, and masks covering their faces.

July 1, 2009

During the night of June 24th or early morning of June 25th, a burglary occurred at the Olympic Iron Works at 3105 Marvin Road NE. The suspects cut the lock off a shed and stole a generator and concrete saw inside.

The generator is a Honda EB1100, and the saw is a Stihl TS400. Together they are valued at $6,300.
